Butter cookies recipe

The recipe for homemade butter cookies only requires seven basic ingredients to be prepared for cookies that are worthy of being baked in a bakery dunk them in chocolate and then sprinkle them on top

Ingredients – ▢1 cup unsalted butter softened 2 sticks 230 grams – ▢⅔ cup granulated sugar 135 grams – ▢2 large egg yolks at room temperature – ▢1 tablespoon whole milk 15 ml – ▢1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract – ▢¼ teaspoon salt – ▢2 ¼ cups allpurpose flour spooned leveled 280 grams – ▢ optional 8 ounces semisweet chocolate melted 226 grams – ▢ optional sprinkle

Instructions

Step 1 to create cookies beat butter on low speed in a stand mixer with the paddle attachment or a large basin with a handheld mixer until smooth add the granulated sugar and mix on medium speed for 1–2 minutes until mixed

Step 2 mix egg yolks milk vanilla extract and salt until mixed scraping basin sides as needed mix in flour the mixture will be crumbly but will come together as you mix

Step 3 i used the ateco 827 to pipe half the dough pipe 15–2inch rounds of dough onto oiled baking sheets you can use parchment paper or a silicone baking mat if you want leaving 2 inches between each one i usually pipe 175inch circles the dough may be too thick to pipe so reheat it in the piping bag with your hands

Step 4 after running out refill the piping bag with dough and pipe circles until all the cookie dough is consumed meanwhile prepare the oven to 350°f 180°c refrigerate the piped cookies on baking pans for 30 minutes while the oven heats up

Step 5 bake 12–16 minutes until cookies are set and bottoms are gently browned if you piped the dough directly on the baking pans run a thin spatula beneath the cookies after they bake to prevent sticking finish cooling on baking sheets

Step 6 to decorate the cookies dip half of each cookie in chocolate and lay on a parchmentlined baking sheet after cooling if desired sprinkle on top chill for 30 minutes to solidify chocolate you can also temper and let the chocolate harden up at room temperature
